Many travelers want to know whether they should buy only the entrance ticket or add a cable car, chairlift or toboggan ticket. Understanding the ticket options before you arrive can make your Great Wall visit much easier.

The cable car is a convenient option for visitors who prefer not to walk the entire way up from the lower area. Another popular option is the chairlift and toboggan system. Visitors can take the chairlift uphill and, when operating and conditions permit, use the toboggan for the descent.

Mutianyu has different transportation systems operated by different companies. Therefore, if you purchase a cable car ticket, do not assume that it can automatically be used for the chairlift and toboggan.
